An ice machine is a refrigeration system and a water system sharing one cabinet, and a complaint about ice production can come from either side. Here is what we inspect and repair on a commercial ice machine service call.
An ice machine that has quietly dropped from full bins to half bins is the most common call we take. Production loss comes from a fouled condenser, restricted airflow around the machine, scale on the evaporator, incoming water that is too warm, a weak water pump, or a genuine refrigeration-circuit fault. We measure rather than guess — cycle times, water flow, air temperature at the condenser and the sealed-system readings — so the repair addresses the real cause.
A machine that freezes a slab and never releases it, or cycles endlessly without dropping ice, is a harvest problem.
